A Taste of Tradition

The Story Behind Nax’id’

Nestled in the heart of Port Hardy on the ancestral lands of the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw, Nax’id’ Pub stands as a proud establishment owned and operated by the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw First Nations.

Nax’id’ is a Kwak̓wala word meaning ‘to drink’. This name was chosen by a group of Elders to represent coming together to share a drink with friends & family.

Embracing a commitment to culinary excellence, our team crafts each dish from fresh, quality ingredients daily, ensuring a dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds with unique flavours. For those seeking a smoky infusion, our custom-built smokehouse is conveniently situated beside the Kwa’lilas Hotel

Welcome to a culinary journey where tradition meets innovation at Nax’id’ Pub.

"The best food on the North Island. Creating unique dishes with local ingredients and recipes that change regularly that you want to continue to go back to try the next new thing. The big-screen TVs allow you to see all the events, as well as lots of local art, decorating the whole building inside and out."
